What are some of the ethical implications of the ideas in this article?

Topic:Summary and Analysis of Carr's "Is Google Making Us Stupid?"

Addiction to the Internet World
Carr, Stanley Kubrick's 2001:A Space Odyssey named in the film, robot's artificial
intelligence was disabled by the astronaut in the scene, the super computer with artificial intelligence has attracted our attention to the emotional response. This situation is likened to the fact that our cognitive and mental memories of our lives are changing in a similar way. Carr nowadays seems to think we've almost lost a lot of our habit of reading. Carr is mentioning about how hard it is to focus on reading a book. He is trying to tell us that we are struggling with our desire to read. Carr says we've spent a lot of time searching for information you've been trying to search for hours in the past. But now when we connect to the Internet what we want to find in seconds, we are looking for Google immediately. Carr argues now that we are not thinking about as much of a topic as we used to be, and now that the source of our thoughts and knowledge is completely Google. Carr talks about how many of his friends have lost their old reading habits. He tells us that people have difficulty focusing on reading habits like they are now. Carr says that the Internet has blunted our cognitive and intellectual abilities, and our concentration capacity has begun to disappear. Carr gives this perfect example. Carr says that he was once a scuba diver in the sea of information and now like a guy in a Jet Ski, he displays us how our intellectual capacity changed by telling us that he is zipping along the surface in the sea of information.

Carr University College London talks about a research that has been carried out by scientists. In the research conducted as part of the five-year, the scientists examined computer logs documenting the behavior of users to two popular research sites, one operated by the British Library and one by a U.K. educational consortium, that provide access to journal articles, e-books, and other sources of written information. According to the results of the research, the researchers see that people using the sites jump from one source to another. It is understood that they rarely looked only one or two pages of some of the sources they visited, and that they only en "a form of skimming activity" between sites. There is no evidence that they have read the web pages that they have visited and then froze back. It is concluded that the only purpose of them being online is "power browse". What this research shows us is that the internet serves a purpose that allows us to just roam the information sea rather than learning and thinking. Carr says again. We are reading more than the 1970s and 1980s, when the television was released, Carr talks about how we read more, but in depth analysis, interpretation, and in depth the structure of our thoughts of what we read, we are beginning to diminish. Carr supports that claim of Fredicrick Nietzsche the, writing materials are involved in touch-writing. Because the touch of our fingers touching the pen or touching the pen when writing a text, the effect of the work of the tool used in the formation of the thoughts transmitted to our brain shapes our words and thoughts. Carr draws attention to the fact that the human mind can program itself again infinitely. He states that people are limiting their wishes and desires and only preventing the development and change of the brain by routinely doing the same things. Based on that, Carr says the people were abandoning their wishes and desires by clock's invention. In other words, eating, sleeping, working as well as everything is determined according to the hours set. He talks about the need for people to live connected to something. Now, nowadays, people are starting to act according to the internet and a digital routine is trying to explain that began to occur. He tells us that people are now accustomed to the world of the internet and that their old habits went to the internet world.

According to Carr, the Internet is a machine designed to automatically collect, transmit and store information. It has been intented to reach the requested information in the shortest time and immediately. Google is now the headquarters of the data source. According to Carr, Google believes that the more information people know, the more productivity and benefits they will gain. Carr tells us that Google's founders need to develop data flow between the human brain and the internet through artificial intelligence. This suggests that it will benefit the further development and perfection of the human brain. Carr tells us that when people started to rely on computers in the past, the basis of artificial intelligence was being created. In Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyses, Carr emphasizes that even though the robot told the astronaut that how robot felt and begged, people are turned into an emotionlessness machine. Carr is trying to tell us that the situation in the future will not be different from the scene of this film.

Technology is a curiosity of mankind since the past. We've always watched a number of movies that show us that we're being controlled by robots in the future. Before the 1900s, when technology was not used much more intensely, people were thinking about everything and doing physical endeavors. At that time, I think people understand what they read when they read a book and think they've been thinking about them for days. Otherwise, the invention of almost every material we used in our lives would not have been done at that time. Because all of the most important inventions were done when there was no television or internet. I think people use their minds more in order to understand the information in the books they read, and they were applied their thoughts in depth analyze. For example, the phone that Graham Bell invented was just to talk. Now what we call the phone we use, the devices that separates us from the real world. The visual devices such as the Internet and television restrict our thoughts about the world and the universe. This fills our mind simply with the figment and meaningless things. Because if he can use human mind and thoughts deeply, miraculous things emerge. As Carr mentions, we all have problems in focusing and thinking about what we read. Nowadays, this problem is present in everyone, because our mind is always in a play, or in a television series or in another meaningless place brought by the internet. I mean, our minds and thoughts are not free. Our mind and brain had been trapped between technological advances and devices. If it goes like this, we won't be seeing the scenes in Kubrick's movie after a very long time.

According to our discussion question, In my view, the ethical implications of this paper show the changes in the effects of technology on human world and human physiology. Technology has always been in the development from the primitive in the world to the present day. After now, the technological developments lead to the technological dependence of people and the weakening of their human skills rather than the tools used for the benefit of people. People begin to become lazy in their cerebral thoughts and activities. Even normal chats and social activities are done on the internet. According to this table, this is the point where humanity has reached in the technological sense. Google, a huge information store in the Internet world, has become a part of people's lives now. This can be discussed ethically because people are no longer in search of information curiosity as they used to be. There is almost no information that people have never heard of today or if they do not know a word they immediately ask Google. However the excitement and curiosity of learning new knowledge in people has disappeared. Today people are no longer seeking new knowledge. Because they have a huge information storage "Google" under their hands. As we have in the past, we don't read too much at the moment and we don't think in depth, but we still have our human feelings. We are aware of the changes from past to present. If we act in the consciousness of these differences, we can protect ourselves from becoming a mechanized emotionlessness person.

The Right to Punish Schools to Protect Students - Öğrencileri Korumak İçin Okulların Cezalandırma Hakkı

Should schools have deterrent rights against cyberbullying? The protection of order and discipline in schools is very important. School officials should have the requirements to protect

students from incidents such as cyberbullying from outside the school because cyber bullying is an attack on people's personal life and personality. Nancy Willard's article criticizes the consequences of inadequate decisions on incidents that have been brought to court as a result of the absence of the right to punish cyberbullying. Willard thinks that the right to punish schools against cyber bullying is necessary to protect the discipline and system within the school. The school officials must have the right to punish cyber bullying, perhaps it may prevent such scandals from growing.
“Schools Have the Right to Punish Cyberbullies” written by Nancy Willard, mentioned in this article whether public schools have the right to punish cyberbullying. Willard argues about the failure of the United States Central Court of California's District Court to make decisions about cyberbullying cases. According to the court statement, the disciplinary policy of the school says that it is decided that school officials should be more clear and punitive for off-campus online behaviors which is deemed to be their obligation. In addition, as a result of cyber bullying, the status of students affected by the educational performance and the reports of cyberbullying experts were not taken into consideration. Willard mentions the outcome as a disturbing decision. Although it has been determined that school officials do not have any right to disciplinary action against the online cyberbullying behavior outside the campus, it is emphasizesed by Willard that the decision was very wrong. Furthermore, it was decided that this decision would be appropriate in other cases showing precedent. Willard says this could lead to a serious deterioration of the system and discipline in schools. There is no constitutional right to be a bully(Willard 1/4). In addition, the school officials do not have the right to discipline for off-campus cyber bullying. Limited legal guidance on the constitution of school intervention if a student is bullied or verbally aggressive to another student. If the school officials had such a right to discipline, perhaps cyber bullying could be prevented without going further. The court also found that the disciplinary policy of the school was unconstitutional. This has led other schools to review policies that will result in a disciplined outcome for any behavior that disturbs the school from outside the campus. Willard argues that school officials must be empowered to expel a person who is found guilty of offense on the off-campus cyberbullying charge by school officials.
Should Public Schools Have The Right to Punish Cyberbullies? I think it should be. I agree with almost all of the claims in the Willard’s article. I think school officials should have the right to discipline cyber bullying, which will result in disruption of the in-school discipline resulting from on-campus or off-campus public schools. Protecting the rights and personalities of students within the school should be a requirement of the school discipline policy. Therefore, as a result of any cyber bullying behavior, students' self-reliance and feelings should be within the policy of school discipline to prevent harm. Willard said that. There is no constitutional right to be a bully Bullying is not a constitutional right, but today we do not have a deterrent law on cyberbullying behavior. I think there should be more disciplinary penalties for cyber bullying in schools and that school officials should have more authority. Willard also said that. Intimidation of one student by another, including intimidation by name calling, is the kind of behavior school authorities are expected to prevent(Willard 1/4).  In schools, firstly, school officials must immediately intervene in the situation against cyberbullying behavior of students and their violent and degrading actions against each other. School officials need to produce quick and accurate results against deterioration of issues affecting the school system and order. Therefore, there must be a discipline right against cyberbullying behavior. However, lack of right to disciplinary action by the school officials on issues such as cyberbullying behavior may lead to an inability to prevent a negative situation. Willard said that another point. School officials must have the authority to respond to incidents and, if justified, remove offending students from school (Willard 2/4). With cyber bullying, no one has the right to mistreat anyone. School officials must have the right to discipline in such cases as insults, personal rights and cyber bullying.
In the conclusion, Schools are a science center where students learn about education and information. The rules of the discipline policy in this science center should be very clear. Any negative cyber bullying behavior or similar situations must have strict and rigorous results for the provision of in-school discipline and order. For cyber bullying, which is the result of the advancement of technology, governments need to adopt more deterrent laws.

What are Drum's two solutions to the challenge of artificial intelligence revolutionizing the economy? Do you find these solutions plausible? Why or why not? If you do not, what should we do (if anything)?

Topic:Summary and Analysis of Drum's"Welcome Robots Overlords, Please Don't Fire Us?"

The Artificial World
Drum says that the development of computer technology is very slow. Drum tells us that at the
end of this long process of development, we will reach a world of artificial intelligence robots. I will summarize the changes in the economy, the environment, society and the world during this development process that Drum has described. Drum mentions about how computers will produce solutions to environmental, economic and social problems. Drum claimed when computers reach smart robots, robots can do anything people can do. Drum explains that people have started artificial intelligence applications a long time ago. Drum says that even when we reach our present time, we are still at the beginning of the development of artificial intelligence because it says that technological development is not very fast as we have seen in the movies. On the contrary, the development of computers will last for a very long time and progressively progresses to a certain point. Drum also tells us that development will never end, progress and development will continue to grow. However, he said that the human brain is a chaotic environment. Drum mentioned that robots with artificial intelligence will act according to previously recorded data. In other words, the complex nature of human beings cannot be reached. Speaking on the phone while driving, for example, can distract people but a machine with artificial intelligence can do this at the same time.

Drum argues that by 2040 robots would be on the market. But it's cheap, and everywhere it's going to take a lot longer to find them. In the economic sector, machines have begun to take an active role. In the business world, machine can do most of the work people do. However, the construction, maintenance and operation of the machines is also necessary. So even though there are machines, the reason why people are still able to work depends on it. The reason why people depend on machine does whatever you want it to do, for as long as you want it to, but Drum says the robots will have people who have money. In other words, people who work and show labor will fall into great troubles. It also says that the country's overall income balance will begin to go more to people with capital as a result of technological developments. This mentions that the ratio of labor and capital distribution will change in the near future. Drum mentions that in the coming years, when the robots begin to enter our lives, the worldwide unemployment rate will start to increase. However, he argues that this will have its negative side. For example, the products produced by the robots at a low cost, talk about the reduced purchasing power of people due to economic difficulties. It also argues that an imbalance will occur in production and consumption.

According to Drum, 5 major problems are likely to threaten the economy. These: Computer-aided economy will affect the labor class, decrease in the number of jobs open to robotics technology, decreases in middle and lower class income levels,  decrease in investment levels due to decrease in consumption, inverse change in labor and capital ratio. Drum thinks that these are the threats that await the world economy in the future. Drum argues that robots will cause massive mass unemployment in the 2030s. People in the middle-skill will lose most their jobs. But in the work done by the robots, the robots will not have the mix mood of the people as they have. Drum says robots will offer them the most suitable and best options for people, workplaces working with robot technology. For example, they will be able to select the appropriate films for us, as they can bring our newspapers home every day. Drum said that there will be very rapid changes in the economy of the world. In addition, this process takes a long time and does not know exactly when it will happen. Drum also mentoins us that it will be very soon.

Technology has always been in our lives in every field from past to present. Nowadays, we can not be denied technology. Technological changes and developments bring differences to our life everyday. I believe that as Drum says, there is little time left for robots to enter our lives. Therefore, we should always follow and investigate technological developments and changes. Drum mentions us about the example of filling the Lake of Michigan. For example, he assumed that Lake Michigan was completely evacuated. Drum stated that the lake would be refilled but that it would be done according to certain rules. Drum said that as the years progressed, the amount of water added to the lake would continue to be doubled. In other words, he tried to explain to us that he started out with very little information in the years when the first development of the computer started. As years passed and more computer development grew, life progressed. This situation is just as similar to the changes in the lake with the increase in the amount of water in the lake. Drum, however, said it would take a long time. Likewise, with the addition of a small amount of water in the first phase began to be filled and increased the amount of water added as the years progressed to the accumulation and rise of water at the level of the bed of the lake has compared the process of development of artificial intelligence robots. With this example, Drum wanted to tell us that the formation of robots with artificial intelligence is not an easy process. In addition, the water added to the lake is similar to information. It also likens water added to the lake to information. In other words, as the information is added, the information field begins to fill up, but this excellent example shows us that this can be reached as a result of a long period of time. In other words, I understand that the technology has produced advanced technology works as a result of the accumulation of knowledge at the end of a very long process. So technology has now reached the point of turning accumulated information into reality. At this point, we should be more prepared and conscious about technological revolution.

The solutions that Drum offers against artificial intelligence are to use capital to apply high rates of taxes and to support money to support displaced workers. I think these solutions are reasonable because it is a fair solution for the tax taken out of capital to go to the laborers who work hard. This may be an obstacle for the people against the robots in the world of technology. It can also cause mass unemployment to slow down for a while. In addition, the tax revenues deducted from the capital should be provided to maintain their lives if the persons of labor are unemployed. I also have a idea to the developing technology. A fund account should be established for each child born by the State. This fund can be financed by the government on the behalf of the children with the taxes levied on the capital owners. The child until the age of 18 and family members will not be able to touch this fund account. After the age of 18 years, the state will give the child a pension. They will also be asked to provide their own earnings. This will cause people to have income. It will prevent mass unemployment and economic downturn. This is a draft idea, and of course this idea can be further developed. As a result, the world changes with technological developments every night. It seems difficult to resist and struggle against this change. I think we should make investments based on our future and the future of our humanity.
